MAGNOT-OGILVY, Florence

Florence Magnot-Ogilvy is professor in French Literature in Université Rennes 2 and member of the CELLAM. She is a specialist of 18th century novels (particularly of the subaltern or lateral forms of speech in memoir-novels) and has been working for several years on the relationship between fiction and the representation of exchanges (in a broad sense that includes economics), analysing the interactions between novelistic techniques and the premises of economic liberalism in the first half of the18th century. Her latest published book is a collective work on the cultural impact of John Law’ bankruptcy (Gagnons sans savoir comment : représentations du Système de Law du XVIIIe siècle à nos jours, Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2017). Her next book is entitled : Le roman et les échanges : pertes et profits dans la fiction des Lumières (Classiques Garnier, to be published at the end of 2019 beginning of 2020). She is currently the general secretary of the Société française d’études sur le 18e siècle.
